HOW TO REACH YOUR YEAR END GOALS EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T STARTED ON

Fall is here. The end of the year is also coming fast upon us. Have you reached all the goals you set out to accomplish? There is still time to be successful and reach those goals this year. If you haven't even started; how do you catch up?

First, realize there is still time. Great things can be accomplished in a very short time period. The key is to break the tasks you need to accomplish into little chunks. Don't try to think about all you have to do at once; this will create that feeling of being overwhelmed. Also, don't try to tackle it by thinking you will set aside a large amount of time in several weeks to complete most of it. If that hasn't happened thus far, it probably won't happen in the future. Work on something everyday, no matter how small it may seem. Little steps on a consistent basis will add up.

Second, visualize what you want to get accomplished. Imagine it is the end of the year and you have accomplished all the goals you set out to complete; what does that look like? The more crystal clear your vision of what the goals are, the easier it is the see what chunks you need to do first, then second, and so on. Think about being in a car when it's raining and you have no defrost heater working and your windshield wipers only work on the slow speed. How easy is it to see where you are going and how you are going to get there? The same is true in you with your business goals.

Third, determine the things that you need to do to complete those goals. List them in chronological order. Then set time frames for the completion of each item or chunk. Once you have a clear vision and can see the end result, look at what you can accomplish this week. Then think about what you can accomplish next week, and the week after that. Try to plan out into the future as far as you can. But, don't go out beyond your comfort level. But once you have accomplished the week's goals, look forward to the next week. The important thing to remember is to continue to reach the short term goals and to keep looking forward.

Fourth, look at the things that will prevent you from accomplishing your goals. What can you do to eliminate the obstacles that might prevent you from succeeding?

Usually the obstacle is YOU! And the question really becomes: how bad you really want to reach your goals? Many of you are probably saying at this moment... but there are things that are beyond my control. Ok, let's think back to when you were young and you really wanted something very badly. Maybe it was an item of clothing, such as Michael Jordan basketball shoes. Or maybe it was to go to a music concert, or a dance, or a party. You had many obstacles that might prevent you from getting the thing you really wanted. They could be not having the money for the clothing, not having the permission to go to the music concert, not being invited to the dance. But if you really wanted this so bad you couldn't live without it, usually you were able to find a way to make it happen. Remember the first person you were attracted to? No matter what the obstacles were to meeting that person and being able to spend time with that person, you overcame them. No matter what it took, even ridicule and humiliation if need be!

What's stopping you now?
